The Tara Open Studio began in July 2014 as a two month exhibition of the art of Courtney Davis, the event  proved very successful and at the end of the exhibition  Courtney was asked if he would like to stay on for an indefinite period.
It was clear in the short time he was here that there was a need for a space for people to enjoy the peace and tranquility the place offered. Over time the gallery gradually evolved into a venue for various spiritual activities and also later evolved into a shop selling holistic items.

3 years later the Tara Open Studio runs between 25 to 30 events each month as well as a creative open space for people to see the progress of Courtney’s  new art as it develops.
In the summer of 2014 Courtney set up a marquee in the grounds behind the gallery to run full day events, this proved extremely popular and was a great loss when it eventually had to be taken down in the Autumn. Thankfully there was a solution when it was suggested that a floor could be put into the roof space of the gallery,  the new   space  Courtney  named  Anam  Na  Teamhrach     ( Soul Of Tara) and became  a dedicated room for meditations, workshops, therapies, visiting spiritual groups and private events such as weddings and even gong bath hen parties
The space continues to evolve and will be interesting to see its development in the future.

STAR CHILD Essential Oils are the volatile, aromatic components of plants, the substance that carries their unique scent and ethereal soul. It is through these precious fragrances that plants communicate with their environment. But essential oils are not just chemical messengers, they are also divine messengers. They possess the power to influence our moods and sense of well-being, they can heal our physical and emotional ailments and even open the gates to other dimensions.

White Sage comes from the coastal mountains of California. Native Americans of the Southwest use its pungent aroma for purification prior to healing ceremonies. White Sage is said to bring peace and harmony, which is why it was included in a special incense mixture known as 'White Buffalo' that was used at tribal gathering. White Sage is also used for consecration and cleansing of ritual tools.

Since people first came together to honour the Gods and spirits of nature they used gums, resins and fragrant herbs to bring them closer to the divine beings and to give fragrant wings to their prayers. Every culture has their own sacred herbs that are particular to its region, yet, precious incense herbs and gums have also always been traded far beyond their country of origin. We offer a selection of these Sacred Herbs, Gums and Resins for those who wish to experiment with their own incense blends.

Burning Incense,is a way to access certain parts of your mind quickly and with a great deal of precision.  By selecting and using certain types of scents in your home you can rapidly adjust not only the atmosphere of the room but the atmosphere in your mind and spiritual body.  This is perhaps why incense has been used so extensively by so many cultures since ancient times.  From the joss sticks used in China, to the cedar and sage burned by indigenous tribes of the Americas, people all over the world have been burning plant essences in order to manipulate the sense of smell, and thus their brains, from time immemorial.

palo.jpg

Palo Santo is a piece of wood from a wild tree that grows in Central and South America. A small piece of the Palo Santo wood is burned to let off a medicinal smoke. Its naturally sweet smoke is light, compared to the heaviness of incense or sage. It’s a great way to freshen up a room, and is very powerful in clearing energy.

Healing crystals harness the life giving elements of the Earth and the universe. Harnessing the energy of the Sun, the Moon, and the oceans, semi-precious stones connect us to Earth as soon as we come into contact with them. Many people wonder if crystals have healing powers, and while there are many anecdotes describing the curative effects of healing stones, it really depends on your own experience. It takes a conscious effort to open your heart and mind to the power of crystal healing.

Pendulums promote healing with the process of Dowsing which seeks out invisible energies. This connects people to higher energies spiritually and can help locate any blocks in energy.

They are used as a form of reflection by asking questions to receive guidance, awareness, and understanding.

Balancing one's chakras is also possible with pendulums, as pendulums tend to pick up on subtle vibrations to clear the body and balance mind, body, and spirit.

Thus, pendulum objects can help relieve forms of pain whether emotional or physical. To this end, it's important when using a crystal pendulum to choose a method of cleansing or clearing crystal prior to the divination session, whether it be for healing or dowsing for answers.

A stunning large yak wool zen or meditation shawls. These shawls are intended to surround the person during the meditation session and are believed to hold the energy that accumulates and also has a beneficial effect on the mind. As the body cools down during meditation, extra warmth is provided by the shawl helping the body and stopping the mind from distraction. This shawl is perfect for meditating, to lie on, as a cover up, or to wrap up in to keep warm. They are also popular for ordained Tibetan monks and nuns. These shawls are extremely comfortable to wear, light weight and warm.

Goddess sculptures. "Much of my work comes from a deep level of consciousness beyond my understanding. Some images appear during meditation and others simply emerge from the clay.

In recent work, whilst still wishing to celebrate the feminine in us all, as I have for over thirty years, I am also drawn to portray images that express balance between female and male".
