Well Of The White Cow

The Hill of Tara (known as Temair in gaeilge) is a hill and ancient ceremonial and burial site near Skryne in County Meath, Ireland. According to tradition, it was the inauguration place and seat of the High Kings of Ireland. Tara was the royal centre of Mide (meaning ‘the middle kingdom'), the fifth province of ancient Ireland.
The Tara Well (one of six) has been called many names over the years, Deare Dubhe - Well of the Dark Eye, Liagh - Well of the Healer, Caprach Cormac - Cormac's Well and the name it is commonly known by Tipre Bo Finne - Well of the White Cow, the water from the well eventually flows into the River Boyne. Boann is the Irish goddess of the River Boyne, a river in Leinster, Ireland. According to the Lebor Gabála Érenn and Tain Bo Fraech she was of the Tuatha Dé Danann.The Milky Way, known in Irish as Bealach na Bó Finne, the Way of the White Cow -shines over the Boyne Valley and the ancient megalithic structure of Newgrange and it is thought that the Boyne River, being the river of the White Cow is a reflection of the star formation of the night sky above.
